CAD is the foundation of FRC design where brainstorming is realized in a 3D workspace. Using sketches, parts, and assemblies teams can design and assemble their whole robot in a CAD software such as Onshape, SOLIDWORKS, Fusion 360 or more. It is also used to design custom parts to be cut or 3D printed. Examples of full robot CADs are below.
MK CAD is an Onshape app made by FRC community members in order to ease the process of design. It essentially serves as a library compiling a multitude of FRC parts such as sprockets, hubs, gussets, and even assemblies such as swerve modules. Below is the link to download the MK CAD app in Onshape.
From here, the app will appear on the right side of your workspace. Clicking on the app will open a menu on the left side of the screen with a variety of drop down menus with different types of parts. You can search for a part with options to search for a configurable part only, or just find the part you are looking for in one of the drop down menus.
