💻Digital Scouting

Digital scouting is definitely the easiest of the two methods. It consists of a google form (or form/software of your choice) that you send to all the scouters, which they then fill out and send the results to a spreadsheet. This form needs to have all necessary information for the game, and, most importantly, a place to write notes. The spreadsheet outputted by the form can then be used to further analyze the data.

Advantages

  • The prime advantage is that it is very easy to see and sort the gathered data, and is very convenient to input the data

  • It helps make sure the data is uniform and verifies that there is no extraneous data

  • Is easier to keep organized and is harder to lose track of data

Disadvantages

  • In many of the venues, there is poor reception, which makes it hard to send the responses

  • Because of the digital form, the notes are often subpar and not sufficient

  • During competition, it is not possible to sync the results with a computer, since hotspots are not allowed during the competition
