🏆Impact Award

How to make an "Impact" - formerly the Chairman's Award

What is the Impact Award (formerly the Chairman's Award)?

  • The FIRST Impact Award enables FIRST to recognize teams for their exemplary efforts in spreading the FIRST message.

  • The Impact Award is a submittable award. It is one of 2 awards (Engineering Inspiration) that will automatically advance you to the next level of competition

  • The criterion for the FIRST Impact Award has special emphasis on recent accomplishments within the last 3 years

  • Must follow the Impact Award Definitions

Eligibility Rules:

  • District teams may not win the Impact Award at Regional events

  • Team cannot have won the Impact Award at the same level of competition that season (i.e. you can only win at one district event/regional per season)

  • Cannot be a Hall of Fame Team

  • Must not be a first year team

General Award Format:

  • Submission Content

    • Executive Summaries (limited to 500 characters, including spaces and punctuation)

    • Essay (limited to 10,000 characters, including spaces and punctuation)

    • Lead mentors assign up to 2 student award submitters

  • Interview Process

    • 7 minute interview, 5 minutes after for judge Q&A

utilize the Q&A time to the fullest extent - some judges will have too many questions and will run out of time, some judges will have NO questions.

keep the interview time (first 7 minutes) to an overview - only go somewhat in depth. Make sure you don't double cover details discussed in the essays - give the judges as much information as possible, and let the judges ask questions to gather as much info as possible.
